Education and networking for lymphedema therapists

The aim of these education meetings is to share information, inform ourselves about and discuss published research and exchange treatment techniques and methods of evaluation related to lymphedema to ensure optimal outcomes for our patients.

Unfortunately we must cancel our therapists meeting for Saturday May 27, 2017.

We will recommence in mid-November 2017 (after the 2017 National Lymphedema Conference Oct 27-28 in Montréal) and in mid-April 2018.

RESEARCH, PRODUCT INFORMATION, THERAPISTS’ EXPERIENCE
AND REIMBURSEMENT STRATEGIES

We will discuss the use and effectiveness of night garments, share samples of different types of night compression devices and explore the important question of how we make decisions and what people with lymphedema actually use.

Two research articles will help us in our discussion.  Pdfs will be sent to therapists who let us know that they will be participating in the meeting.

Management of Lower Limb Lymphedema Webinar Session

Free online training in collaboration with the Lymphedema Association of Quebec.
Presented by Dr. Anna Towers, M.D. C.M.

Following her training in lymphedema management (Casley-Smith) in 1995, Dr. Towers has been directing the lymphedema program at the McGill University Health Centre. She was Founding Co-Chair of the Canadian Lymphedema Framework and is recognized as an advocate for the development of lymphedema programs in Canada.
Join us to learn from Dr. Towers’ experience as she presents lower limb lymphedema and its management.

Dr. Nicole Paquette, a dermatologist with an interest in lymphedema will present on cellulitis associated with lymphedema.

Suzanne Leclerc will have a case to present.

Richard Lafrance, therapist, fitter and kinesiologist, will share his experience as a fitter with us.

If we have time, we will discuss a recently published risk reduction study.

Effectiveness of compression
Skin problems associated with lymphedema, Bandaging techniques in the care of wounds and Introduction to Circaid Reduction Kit

Dr. Nicole Paquette, a dermatologist with an interest in lymphedema will present on skin problems associated with lymphedema and we will discuss suggestions for bandaging techniques in the care of wounds. Angela Yung will have a case to present. Pascale Turcotte, a representative of Valco will discuss results of a series of case studies using Circaid Reduction kits in the intensive phase of treatment. She will demonstrate use of the kit.

Bring examples of types of compression you use, your experiences to share and questions to ask of others.

All our meetings are held in French and English according to the choice of the presenter and without professional translation.
